Hiand welcome to our sixth season - time has gone so fast this year and it is hard to believe that our sixth Summer Showcase is nearly upon us, we don't seem to have stopped since ‘Resolutions 2', the student's last public performance in January this year. Since January we have moved our class venue and are now back in the town centre at the home of The Wrexham Musical Theatre Society where we held our January Show. Some of our classes have increased in size since the move which has proved interesting with regard to choreography, as the theatre is a Studio Theatre, but Lead Choreographer Kim Partington and Junior Choreographer Alysha Harrison have met the challenge of working on a smaller stage head on and have more than proved their worth. Newly appointed Student Choreographer Kaylie Smith has been helping out with the Junior and Intermediate classes as we said goodbye to Alison Humphreys-Jones who left to have her third baby in May - we hope that Alison, partner Roy and sons Ethan and Kian have a lovely time welcoming baby Riley into their world. Our new Dancing Dinkies Co-ordinator will be Adult Student Kirsty Larrett who has been a student with us since 2008.
Musical Memories', which is presently in rehearsal, is showing all the signs of being yet another successful showcase for the students - with the emphasis being on fun this season. All the students and choreographers are working extremely hard in and out of class and we should see some exceptional performances this year. We are also pleased to welcome the return of Sally Aiden-Marsh as Guest Choreographer for this showcase who, having been working with the Intermediate class since May will also be performing in some of the group numbers, as a soloist and in a special routine with the Adult class and Lead Choreographer Kim Partington.
This season we have concentrated on putting some humour into one or two of the routines to help with student confidence which has worked really well, putting a different aspect into the dance performances and brought out some of the comic characters within the group. We hope you all enjoy this show as much as we have putting it together.
